| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, San Patricio County Judge Terry Simpson is being |

| 6 | 7 | | presented with an Outstanding Community Leader Award by LULAC |

| 7 | 8 | | Council No. 1 in Corpus Christi at the organization's 21st annual |

| 8 | 9 | | awards banquet on February 16, 2017; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Currently serving his fourth term as county judge, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Terry Simpson has partnered with economic development groups to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | raise the profile of San Patricio County and the Coastal Bend area |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | as a desirable destination for business, and he helped to secure a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | seat for San Patricio County on the Port of Corpus Christi |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Authority; under his guidance, the county has also increased its |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | investment in wind energy, resulting in property tax revenue for |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | area school districts, and he continues to seek out grant funds for |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | sewer systems, housing rehabilitation, and other infrastructure |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | needs; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Judge Simpson previously served as a deputy sheriff |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | for the county for nearly three decades and as justice of the peace, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Precinct 1, for seven years; he has further benefited his fellow |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | citizens through his involvement with numerous boards and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | committees dedicated to promoting economic and community growth; in |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | recognition of his myriad accomplishments, he was presented with |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the Road Hand Award by the Texas Department of Transportation and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | named the 2014 Newsmaker of the Year by the Corpus Christi |

| 27 | 28 | | Caller-Times; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The strength of our communities is enhanced by the |

| 29 | 30 | | devoted efforts of individuals such as Judge Terry Simpson, whose |

| 30 | 31 | | tireless work has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life |

| 31 | 32 | | in the Corpus Christi area and beyond; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Terry Simpson on his |
