| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Darcy Schroeder is being honored with a Y Women in |

| 6 | 7 | | Careers Award by the YWCA in Corpus Christi on March 1, 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi YWCA has been recognizing |

| 8 | 9 | | accomplished women in the community through this awards program |

| 9 | 10 | | since 1979; those chosen for the distinction have achieved a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | notable degree of success in their respective fields, and as women |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | who demonstrate integrity, a willingness to take on new challenges, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and a commitment to excellence, they serve as outstanding role |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | models for young girls, whose empowerment is a crucial part of the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | YWCA mission; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Darcy Schroeder has enjoyed a varied career in |

| 16 | 17 | | public relations, working in behalf of a newspaper, a hotel, two |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | television news programs, a restaurant chain, and two refineries, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | including the one she represents in her current position as public |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | affairs manager at Valero Energy Corporation; an accomplished |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | author as well, she has published two young adult science fiction |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | novels and is now writing her third book; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through the skill and determination she brings to |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | all her efforts, Darcy Schroeder has earned the esteem of her peers |

| 24 | 25 | | and made contributions to her community that will resonate far into |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the future; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Darcy Schroeder on receiving a 2017 |
