H.R. No. 467
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Phebe Ellis-Roach is being recognized with the
Business Award by the YWCA of Lubbock at its Women of Excellence
reception and dinner on March 9, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1989, the Women of Excellence awards
honor individuals for their contributions as leaders and
volunteers, highlighting the vital roles that women play in civic
and professional endeavors in the Lubbock area; and
WHEREAS, With more than 30 years of experience in the banking
industry, Ms. Ellis-Roach is currently a senior vice president and
mortgage lender at PrimeWest Mortgage; she oversees the operations
of one of the top mortgage lending teams in Lubbock, and she has
been named a Top Producer by the Texas Mortgage Bankers
Association; moreover, she has served on the FirstBank & Trust
Executive Committee and the West Texas Home Builders Association
Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Ellis-Roach also gives generously of her time
and talents to a number of civic organizations, including the New
Legacy Home for Women, the Lubbock Parade of Homes Committee, and
the American Diabetes Association; she co-chaired the local Go Red
for Women campaign in 2012, which raised $75,000 for the American
Heart Association, and took part in the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce
Total Resource Campaign, which obtained more than $200,000 in
sponsorships; in addition, she was a member of the city's bond
election citizens advisory committee in 2012; and
WHEREAS, With her receipt of a Women of Excellence award,
Phebe Ellis-Roach joins an elite group of women who have been
honored by the YWCA of Lubbock, and she is indeed a worthy role
model for this and future generations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature congratulate Phebe Ellis-Roach on receiving a 2017
Women of Excellence award from the YWCA of Lubbock and extend to her
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Ellis-Roach as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
