| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life rich in family, friends, and meaningful |

| 6 | 6 | | service drew to a close with the passing of Barbara Lynn Stephenson |

| 7 | 7 | | of Wharton on September 25, 2016, at the age of 68; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The only child of Lewis and Hope Jarvis, the former |

| 9 | 9 | | Barbara Lynn Jarvis was born on July 29, 1948, in Amherst and raised |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in Levelland, where she graduated from high school in 1965; she |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | exchanged wedding vows with Phil Stephenson in 1973, and the couple |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | became the parents of two cherished children, Scott and Allison; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Stephenson family moved to Wharton in 1974, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Ms. Stephenson earned an associate degree in interior design from |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the Art Institute of Houston; her passion for volunteering led her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to work with a host of organizations, including the Little League, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Bright Minds, and various Republican women's groups, and she also |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | helped organize a community rally for the troops during the Iraq |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | War; she experienced the joy of becoming a grandmother to six |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | treasured grandchildren, and in her leisure time, she enjoyed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | doting on her loved ones, reading, and relaxing at the couple's |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | vacation home in Rockport; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Stephenson left an indelible imprint on the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | lives of all who were blessed to share in her affection and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | friendship, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; |

| 27 | 27 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
