 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The residents of Lewisville lost an admired civic
 leader with the passing of city council member Leroy Vaughn on
 February 1, 2017, at the age of 70; and
 WHEREAS, Leroy Vaughn graduated with a bachelor's degree in
 political science and business from the University of North Texas
 and a master's degree in public affairs from The University of Texas
 at Austin; he subsequently enjoyed a career with the City of Davis,
 California, that spanned nearly two decades, working as a
 firefighter, fire inspector, arson investigator, and building
 inspector; and
 WHEREAS, After relocating to Lewisville, Mr. Vaughn served
 the community as a member of the Transportation Board, the
 Community Development Block Grants Advisory Committee, and the 2010
 Goals Committee, and he also volunteered as a benefits counselor
 for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Vaughn was elected as the Place 1 representative
 on the Lewisville City Council in 2011, and during his time in
 office, he held the positions of mayor pro tem and deputy mayor pro
 tem; moreover, he represented the municipal government in the
 National League of Cities, where he was a member of the Finance,
 Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations Steering
 Committee, and he was appointed to the Emergency Preparedness
 Planning Council for the North Central Texas Council of
 Governments; in addition to his work as a public official, he was
 the owner of Voninamillion Home Solutions, a real estate investment
 company; and
 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his community, Leroy Vaughn made
 a meaningful difference in the lives of his fellow citizens, and his
 achievements will be a continuing source of inspiration to all who
 had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Leroy
 Vaughn and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leroy
 Vaughn.
