| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the health care community are gathering |

| 6 | 7 | | in Austin on February 21, 2017, in observance of Texas Trauma and |

| 7 | 8 | | Emergency Health Care Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to the well-being of their fellow |

| 9 | 10 | | citizens, the health care professionals of the Texas trauma system |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | respond at a moment's notice to emergency situations, which can |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | range from motor vehicle accidents and natural disasters to heart |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | attacks, strokes, and other medical crises; they often put their |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | own lives at risk as they react with speed, compassion, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | professionalism; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Texas trauma system has 288 designated trauma |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | facilities, which are supported by 22 trauma service area regional |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | advisory councils; more than 64,000 EMS personnel, 42,000 nurses, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and 2,000 trauma and emergency physicians work with their |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | colleagues to provide lifesaving care and vital rehabilitation |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | services to the state's large and diverse population; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, When urgent medical needs arise, Texans rely |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | completely on the availability of swift assistance, and it is |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | indeed appropriate to recognize the vital role played in our |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | society by emergency medical personnel; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 21, 2017, as Texas Trauma and |

| 27 | 28 | | Emergency Health Care Day at the State Capitol and extend to all |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | those participating in this observance sincere best wishes for a |

| 29 | 30 | | meaningful and memorable visit. |
