45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Members of the health care community are gathering
67 in Austin on February 21, 2017, in observance of Texas Trauma and
78 Emergency Health Care Day at the State Capitol; and
89 WHEREAS, Dedicated to the well-being of their fellow
910 citizens, the health care professionals of the Texas trauma system
1011 respond at a moment's notice to emergency situations, which can
1112 range from motor vehicle accidents and natural disasters to heart
1213 attacks, strokes, and other medical crises; they often put their
1314 own lives at risk as they react with speed, compassion, and
1415 professionalism; and
1516 WHEREAS, The Texas trauma system has 288 designated trauma
1617 facilities, which are supported by 22 trauma service area regional
1718 advisory councils; more than 64,000 EMS personnel, 42,000 nurses,
1819 and 2,000 trauma and emergency physicians work with their
1920 colleagues to provide lifesaving care and vital rehabilitation
2021 services to the state's large and diverse population; and
2122 WHEREAS, When urgent medical needs arise, Texans rely
2223 completely on the availability of swift assistance, and it is
2324 indeed appropriate to recognize the vital role played in our
2425 society by emergency medical personnel; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby recognize February 21, 2017, as Texas Trauma and
2728 Emergency Health Care Day at the State Capitol and extend to all
2829 those participating in this observance sincere best wishes for a
2930 meaningful and memorable visit.
