| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, National Engineers Week is taking place February 19 |

| 6 | 7 | | to 25, 2017, and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to |

| 7 | 8 | | recognize the engineering professionals of the Texas chapters of |

| 8 | 9 | | ASHRAE; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since 1951, "EWeek" has been set aside to celebrate |

| 10 | 11 | | the tremendous efforts of the men and women who work in the field of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | engineering and to promote the education of future leaders in this |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | profession; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1894, ASHRAE is an international |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | engineering society that focuses on building systems, energy |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability; |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the organization was originally known as the American Society of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers before |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | adopting the current acronym as its official name in 2012 as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | reflection of its global status; today, ASHRAE has more than 55,000 |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | members, spread across 140 countries; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, By dedicating themselves to advancing technologies |

| 22 | 23 | | of benefit to all of human society, the members of the Alamo, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Austin, Dallas, East Texas, Fort Worth, Houston, South Texas, and |

| 24 | 25 | | West Texas chapters of ASHRAE have made a lasting, positive |

| 25 | 26 | | difference in their communities and beyond, and it is indeed |

| 26 | 27 | | fitting to honor their contributions to the Lone Star State; now, |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 19 to 25, 2017, as National |

| 30 | 31 | | Engineers Week and extend sincere appreciation to the members of |

| 31 | 32 | | the eight Texas chapters of ASHRAE; and, be it further |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
