| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Bill Brabbin of Abilene on January 24, 2017, at the age |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Milford and Thelma Brabbin, Bill Brabbin |

| 9 | 10 | | was born in Merkel on November 8, 1928, and grew up with the |

| 10 | 11 | | companionship of three brothers, Donald, Fred, and Jerry; he |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | answered his nation's call to duty in 1946 and served overseas in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Guam and Tokyo before his military discharge in 1949; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, After returning to civilian life, Mr. Brabbin |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | established the Brabbin Construction Company, and he spent over |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | half a century building homes in Abilene and Brownwood; he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | contributed to his professional community as president of the Big |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Country Home Builders Association, the Abilene Home Builders |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Association, and the Abilene Association of Realtors and as a |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | director of the National Association of Home Builders; an honorary |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | member of BCHBA, he was presented with the 1995 Raymond Thomason |

| 21 | 22 | | Award and was twice voted Builder of the Year by that organization; |

| 22 | 23 | | moreover, he was given the 2007 Ted Schlossman Lifetime Achievement |

| 23 | 24 | | Award and named an honored life director by the Texas Association of |

| 24 | 25 | | Builders, of which he was a member for over 50 years; this esteemed |

| 25 | 26 | | Texan further distinguished himself through his involvement with |

| 26 | 27 | | many civic organizations, and he was a valued congregant of |

| 27 | 28 | | Southern Hills Church of Christ; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brabbin enjoyed a long and rewarding marriage |

| 29 | 30 | | with his wife, Jean George, before her passing in 2013; over the |

| 30 | 31 | | years, they were blessed with a family that included their son, Bob |

| 31 | 32 | | Brabbin, and his wife, Billie, as well as three grandchildren, |

| 32 | 33 | | Beau, Baron, and Lea, and three great-grandchildren, Brailynn, |

| 33 | 34 | | Christian, and Bailey; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, an engaged member of his |

| 35 | 36 | | community, and a successful entrepreneur, Bill Brabbin leaves |

| 36 | 37 | | behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the good |

| 37 | 38 | | fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
