| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Creative Corrections Education Foundation has |

| 7 | 8 | | Beaumont-Port Arthur area who are considered at risk; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, CCEF grants scholarships to children of |

| 9 | 10 | | incarcerated or paroled parents or legal guardians and to students |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | in financial hardship who wish to pursue higher education or |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | vocational training; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In June 2015, the foundation established the Right |

| 13 | 14 | | Path Program to assist the growing population of unemployed Golden |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Triangle residents in acquiring the skills, education, and other |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | tools necessary for gaining meaningful employment; the initiative |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | helps young adults, typically between the ages of 18 and 27, by |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | providing financial aid for enrollment at the Lamar Institute of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Technology, where they can earn an associate degree or trade |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | certificate; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In keeping with its motto, "Education Versus |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Incarceration," the Creative Corrections Education Foundation has |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | worked to break the cycle of poverty that affects disadvantaged |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | young people, and the organization is indeed deserving of special |

| 24 | 25 | | recognition for its significant efforts; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend the Creative Corrections Education |

| 27 | 28 | | Foundation on its service to the people of Southeast Texas and |

| 28 | 29 | | extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best |
