45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Creative Corrections Education Foundation has
67 helped provide an educational lifeline to many young people in the
78 Beaumont-Port Arthur area who are considered at risk; and
89 WHEREAS, CCEF grants scholarships to children of
910 incarcerated or paroled parents or legal guardians and to students
1011 in financial hardship who wish to pursue higher education or
1112 vocational training; and
1213 WHEREAS, In June 2015, the foundation established the Right
1314 Path Program to assist the growing population of unemployed Golden
1415 Triangle residents in acquiring the skills, education, and other
1516 tools necessary for gaining meaningful employment; the initiative
1617 helps young adults, typically between the ages of 18 and 27, by
1718 providing financial aid for enrollment at the Lamar Institute of
1819 Technology, where they can earn an associate degree or trade
1920 certificate; and
2021 WHEREAS, In keeping with its motto, "Education Versus
2122 Incarceration," the Creative Corrections Education Foundation has
2223 worked to break the cycle of poverty that affects disadvantaged
2324 young people, and the organization is indeed deserving of special
2425 recognition for its significant efforts; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby commend the Creative Corrections Education
2728 Foundation on its service to the people of Southeast Texas and
2829 extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best
2930 wishes for the future; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
