| 8 | 9 | | provides a welcome opportunity to honor the trustees of the La Joya |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The mission of public schools throughout the state |

| 11 | 12 | | and nation is to empower children to become productive contributors |

| 12 | 13 | | to society in an ever-changing world; to that end, the La Joya ISD |

| 13 | 14 | | school board members partner closely with superintendent Dr. Alda |

| 14 | 15 | | T. Benavides, along with parents, teachers, and community leaders, |

| 15 | 16 | | to set policy that promotes a learning environment in which |

| 16 | 17 | | students across the district's 43 campuses have a chance to thrive; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated individuals currently serving on the |

| 21 | 22 | | Jose Peña, Juan Jose Garza, Johnn V. Alaniz, and Alejandro Cantu; |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Each of these notable Texans demonstrates a truly |

| 26 | 27 | | successful operation of the district; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby honor the La Joya Independent School District |

| 29 | 30 | | Board of Trustees on the occasion of School Board Recognition Month |
