| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mae Beth Palone is retiring from the Independent |

| 7 | 8 | | close an outstanding career that has spanned more than four |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Sweetwater, Ms. Palone earned a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | bachelor's degree in journalism from The University of Texas and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | has lived in Austin ever since; following her graduation in 1975, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | she joined the staff of State Representative Elmer Martin; she went |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | on to work in the offices of Representatives Walter Grubbs, Jimmy |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Mankins, and Foster Whaley, and she even assisted a newly elected |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | representative, Rick Perry, before he had his own staff; she |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | finished her Capitol career in the service of Representative Robert |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Earley; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, On November 15, 1994, Ms. Palone became the |

| 19 | 20 | | government relations officer for the Independent Bankers |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Association of Texas, and in that role, she worked tirelessly to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | promote the cause of community bankers in Texas; she also wrote the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | scripts for the organization's annual convention and other IBAT |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | events and communications; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, After receiving a promotion to vice president in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | 2000, Ms. Palone took the reins of the leadership division in 2004, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | and under her guidance, the organization's membership grew to over |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | 590; during her notable tenure, she also implemented a regional |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | governance structure and mentored future leaders of the Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | banking industry; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Despite her busy professional life, Ms. Palone has |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | found time to give back to her community as a CASA volunteer and as a |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | member of the board of directors of her homeowners association; in |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | her leisure hours, she can often be found cheering on the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Longhorns, and she never misses a home game; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Through her professionalism, deep experience, and |

| 36 | 37 | | commitment to excellence, Mae Beth Palone has greatly benefited the |

| 37 | 38 | | Texas community banking industry and countless area residents, and |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, |
