| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Dennis D. Wilson of Limestone County was |

| 6 | 7 | | installed as president of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas in |

| 7 | 8 | | July 2016, and this is a fitting opportunity to celebrate his |

| 8 | 9 | | four-decade career in law enforcement; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Limestone County, Sheriff Wilson |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1973, attended Cisco Junior |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | College and Navarro Junior College, and graduated from the Heart of |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Texas Council of Governments Police Academy in 1976; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, This veteran peace officer began his career with the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Limestone County Sheriff's Department in 1975 as a deputy sheriff; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | over the years, he rose steadily through the ranks, eventually |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | becoming a captain in the Criminal Investigations Division; from |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | November 1999 to December 2000, he was an investigator for the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | district attorney's office, and he has been sheriff of Limestone |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | County since January 1, 2001; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A leader in his profession, Sheriff Wilson is a life |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | member of the Texas Jail Association and the Sheriffs' Association |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | of Texas and a member of the American Jail Association, the National |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Sheriffs' Association, and the Texas District and County Attorneys |

| 24 | 25 | | Association; he is licensed as a master peace officer, and in 2005, |

| 25 | 26 | | he received the Bert Ford Commendation from the Texas Alcoholic |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Beverage Commission; in 2013 he was appointed to the Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Commission on Jail Standards by Governor Rick Perry, and in 2016 he |

| 28 | 29 | | was reappointed to the commission by Governor Greg Abbott; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Wilson is also a member and past president |

| 30 | 31 | | of the Groesbeck Lions Club, a member and past master of Groesbeck |

| 31 | 32 | | Masonic Lodge No. 354, and a member of the Centex Citizens Credit |

| 32 | 33 | | Union board; and |

| 33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Wilson's dedication to the highest |

| 34 | 35 | | standards of his profession has greatly benefited the citizens of |

| 35 | 36 | | Limestone County and earned the respect of law enforcement officers |

| 36 | 37 | | throughout the Lone Star State, and his knowledge and experience |

| 37 | 38 | | make him an ideal choice to lead the Sheriffs' Association of Texas; |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dennis Wilson on his installation |
