| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Authors is a nonprofit |

| 6 | 7 | | organization dedicated to promoting literacy and supporting the |

| 7 | 8 | | work of Texas writers across the state and nation and around the |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since 2011, the Austin-based organization has drawn |

| 10 | 11 | | upon the knowledge and expertise of a diverse group of established |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | authors to help others find success in the field; its membership |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | includes more than 250 writers whose books span over 60 different |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | genres; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, By collaborating with Drop Everything and Read |

| 15 | 16 | | (DEAR) Texas and other groups, the Texas Association of Authors |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | also supports the Super Readers program, an initiative aimed at |

| 17 | 18 | | encouraging children to read; last year, through the program, more |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | than $10,000 in members' books were donated to schools, libraries, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and other community partners; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In carrying out its mission of "Bringing Texas |

| 21 | 22 | | Authors to the World," the Texas Association of Authors has |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | provided a valuable service to countless members and readers |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | through its workshops, educational events, and marketing |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | opportunities, and it is indeed fitting to recognize this |

| 25 | 26 | | noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor the Texas Association of Authors and |

| 28 | 29 | | extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success; |
