R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jack Bane has been named a 2016 Corpus Christi
Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in the
general academics category; and
WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
Scholars program was established to reward local students who have
demonstrated excellence in specific areas of achievement; since its
inception in 1988, hundreds of young men and women have been
selected for this prestigious honor, and each of the 2016 winners
received a $1,000 scholarship to help fund their college studies;
and
WHEREAS, The son of Lynn and Marc Bane, Jack Bane is a senior
at Richard King High School, where he swims, runs cross-country,
and participates in Science Olympiad; he is also president of his
school's National Honor Society and a member of the Spanish Honor
Society; ranked second in his class of 407 students, he has
maintained an impressive 4.79 grade point average while taking dual
credit courses at Del Mar College; moreover, he holds a pilot's
license and is certified to fly single-engine and glider airplanes;
after graduation, he plans to study biology or biochemistry as he
works toward a career in medicine; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued his goals
with tremendous dedication, and he may take great pride in all that
he has accomplished as he looks ahead to a future bright with
promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jack Bane on his selection as a
2016 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished
Scholar and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Bane as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
