5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Harvey Everheart retired as general manager of the |

6 | 7 | | Mesa Underground Water Conservation District on January 30, 2017, |

7 | 8 | | drawing to a close more than a quarter century of service to the |

8 | 9 | | people of Dawson County; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature authorized the Mesa UWCD in |
---|
10 | 11 | | 1989, and it was created the following year to protect the area's |
---|
11 | 12 | | critical freshwater resources from contamination or nonbeneficial |
---|
12 | 13 | | use; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary 26-year tenure as the |
---|
14 | 15 | | district's general manager, Mr. Everheart oversaw water-assessment |
---|
15 | 16 | | studies, groundwater quality and quantity monitoring, wellhead |
---|
16 | 17 | | protection efforts, and plugging of abandoned wells, as well as a |
---|
17 | 18 | | range of public education initiatives; he also represented the |
---|
18 | 19 | | district on the state level as an active member of the Texas |
---|
19 | 20 | | Alliance of Groundwater Districts; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Everheart's commitment to the safety and |
---|
21 | 22 | | security of the water supply has greatly benefited the people of |
---|
22 | 23 | | Dawson County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
---|
23 | 24 | | spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |

25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Harvey Everheart on his retirement |
