45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Harvey Everheart retired as general manager of the
67 Mesa Underground Water Conservation District on January 30, 2017,
78 drawing to a close more than a quarter century of service to the
89 people of Dawson County; and
910 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature authorized the Mesa UWCD in
1011 1989, and it was created the following year to protect the area's
1112 critical freshwater resources from contamination or nonbeneficial
1213 use; and
1314 WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary 26-year tenure as the
1415 district's general manager, Mr. Everheart oversaw water-assessment
1516 studies, groundwater quality and quantity monitoring, wellhead
1617 protection efforts, and plugging of abandoned wells, as well as a
1718 range of public education initiatives; he also represented the
1819 district on the state level as an active member of the Texas
1920 Alliance of Groundwater Districts; and
2021 WHEREAS, Mr. Everheart's commitment to the safety and
2122 security of the water supply has greatly benefited the people of
2223 Dawson County, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well
2324 spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now,
2425 therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Harvey Everheart on his retirement
2728 as general manager of the Mesa Underground Water Conservation
2829 District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and,
2930 be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Mr. Everheart as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
