| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sandra Thompson has rendered exceptional service to |

| 6 | 7 | | her community as an educator, and she is indeed deserving of |

| 7 | 8 | | recognition for her many accomplishments; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Having grown up with a brother who has a disability, |

| 9 | 10 | | Sandra Thompson was inspired to pursue a career that would allow her |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | to help other families like her own; after earning her master's |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | degree in special education in 1992, she became a special education |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | teacher at Fredericksburg High School, and in 1994, she |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | transitioned to Reagan High School, where she taught Life Skills, a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | program to aid students with intellectual disabilities and autism; |
|---|

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Thompson joined the staff at Pflugerville |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Elementary School in 1998, and in the years since, she has taught in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | a variety of areas there, including Life Skills, Resource and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Inclusion programs, and fourth-grade general education; for the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | past five years, she has helped lead the school's Pegasus Program, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | an early childhood development course that prepares preschool |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | students for kindergarten; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For her outstanding achievements, Ms. Thompson was |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | named Pflugerville Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2003, and she |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | has also been awarded five grants from the Junior League of Austin; |

|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Sandra Thompson has greatly benefited students |

| 28 | 29 | | within the Pflugerville community and across the Lone Star State |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | through her steadfast dedication to ensuring that every child |

| 30 | 31 | | receives the education that he or she deserves, and she has garnered |

| 31 | 32 | | the lasting respect and admiration of countless people along the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | way; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Sandra Thompson for her notable endeavors |
