| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Young Republicans of Magnolia High |

| 6 | 7 | | Schools are visiting the State Capitol on March 13, 2017, to learn |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A chapter of the National Teen Age Republicans and |

| 9 | 10 | | High School Republicans of Texas, the club includes students from |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | both Magnolia and Magnolia West High Schools; the members strive to |

| 11 | 12 | | educate others about the political process and the ideals of the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Republican Party, and they support local and national candidates |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and demonstrate their values through community service; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The club was founded in October 2015, and the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | following month, members launched Teens Helping Teens, which raised |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | $1,000 to provide holiday gifts for youth in need; in 2016, the club |

| 17 | 18 | | awarded several scholarships, and it won seven awards at the High |

| 18 | 19 | | School Republicans of Texas State Convention, including Most |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Outstanding High School Republican Club in Texas; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, During its second year, the club has continued its |

| 21 | 22 | | charitable endeavors; it also participated in the presidential |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | campaign and has welcomed a number of guest speakers on such topics |

| 23 | 24 | | as the U.S. Constitution, freedom of speech, and the nation of |

| 24 | 25 | | Israel; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The continued vitality of our democracy depends on |

| 26 | 27 | | engaged citizens, and through their noteworthy endeavors, the |

| 27 | 28 | | members of the Young Republicans of Magnolia High Schools are |

| 28 | 29 | | setting a sterling example for others; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor the Young Republicans of Magnolia High |
