| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors |

| 6 | 7 | | Association is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2017; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, I. N. Odom founded Elementary Principals in Waco on |

| 8 | 9 | | November 30, 1917, from among a group of 50 administrators that |

| 9 | 10 | | gathered at the annual Texas State Teachers Association convention; |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | as these school leaders continued to meet together over the years, |

| 11 | 12 | | an independent organization, now known as the Texas Elementary |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Principals and Supervisors Association, was formed; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Today, TEPSA represents about 6,000 Texas |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | principals, assistant principals, and supervisors, and it is the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | only organization of its kind focused exclusively on administrators |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | at the pre-K to eighth-grade level; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, members of the organization |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | have worked tirelessly to advocate in behalf of the Texas public |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | education system; these efforts have played a crucial role in the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | adoption of a formal set of criteria by which to evaluate elementary |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | schools, in raising the standard requirements for qualification to |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | become a principal, and in ensuring that each elementary school |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | campus is provided with a full-time principal; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Throughout the past century, the Texas Elementary |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Principals and Supervisors Association has greatly contributed to |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the betterment of the Lone Star State through its dedication to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | education and to supporting the leaders of our state's youth, and it |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | is indeed fitting to join in marking this significant milestone in |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | the organization's rich history; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor the Texas Elementary Principals and |

| 32 | 33 | | Supervisors Association on the occasion of its 100th anniversary |

| 33 | 34 | | and extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere |
