45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A delegation of 10th-grade students from the ROPP
67 for Girls program is visiting the State Capitol on March 14, 2017;

89 WHEREAS, ROPP, which stands for Rites of Passage Program,
910 provides young women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with Bible-based
1011 training and experiences; the program seeks to help students pass
1112 gracefully from childhood to adulthood by instilling in them high
1213 moral values, strong self-esteem, and a sense of altruism; and
1314 WHEREAS, Starting in sixth grade, participants attend
1415 bimonthly classes, where they learn such life skills as financial
1516 management, decision making, cooking, sewing, etiquette, and fine
1617 arts appreciation; a highlight of the program is a trip to Ghana for
1718 juniors and seniors; and
1819 WHEREAS, By teaching young women good values and the ability
1920 to lead healthy, productive lives, ROPP for Girls is making a
2021 positive and lasting difference in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and
2122 it is indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
2223 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2324 Legislature hereby commend ROPP for Girls for its contributions to
2425 the community and extend to the ROPP participants visiting the
2526 Capitol sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
2627 experience.
