5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

6 | 7 | | memories of Sergeant William Karl Keesee of the Texas Department of |

7 | 8 | | Public Safety, who died in the line of duty on October 29, 2015, at |

8 | 9 | | the age of 49; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born on April 29, 1966, in Brownwood to Johnny and |
---|
10 | 11 | | Merle Keesee, Karl Keesee was a graduate of Brownwood High School; |
---|
11 | 12 | | he married the former Darla Boyd on June 8, 1985, and the couple |
---|
12 | 13 | | were blessed with two children, Karesa and Karlton; and |
---|
13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee dedicated 25 years of service to the |
---|
14 | 15 | | Department of Public Safety; he was a certified crash |
---|
15 | 16 | | reconstructionist, recognized by the judicial system as an expert |
---|
16 | 17 | | witness on crash reconstruction, and he also worked as a crash |
---|
17 | 18 | | school instructor and a field training officer; over the years, he |
---|
18 | 19 | | was the recipient of numerous honors from the department, including |
---|
19 | 20 | | a Texas Highway Patrol Division Chief award for his response to a |
---|
20 | 21 | | life-threatening situation, and he was posthumously recognized by |
---|
21 | 22 | | Governor Greg Abbott with a 2016 Star of Texas award; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee was a lifelong resident of Brownwood |
---|
23 | 24 | | and a valued congregant of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ; a |
---|
24 | 25 | | humble man admired for his wisdom and humor, he went out of his way |
---|
25 | 26 | | to help those in need, and he touched the lives of many people |
---|
26 | 27 | | through his work in law enforcement; in his leisure hours, he |
---|
27 | 28 | | enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing things around the house, and |
---|
28 | 29 | | spending time with his family, whom he cherished above all else; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Karl Keesee lived an honorable life of service to |
---|
30 | 31 | | his fellow Texans, and he will always be remembered with deep |
---|
31 | 32 | | affection by those who held him close to their hearts; now, |
---|
32 | 33 | | therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sergeant William |

35 | 36 | | Karl Keesee and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his |
