45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
67 memories of Sergeant William Karl Keesee of the Texas Department of
78 Public Safety, who died in the line of duty on October 29, 2015, at
89 the age of 49; and
910 WHEREAS, Born on April 29, 1966, in Brownwood to Johnny and
1011 Merle Keesee, Karl Keesee was a graduate of Brownwood High School;
1112 he married the former Darla Boyd on June 8, 1985, and the couple
1213 were blessed with two children, Karesa and Karlton; and
1314 WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee dedicated 25 years of service to the
1415 Department of Public Safety; he was a certified crash
1516 reconstructionist, recognized by the judicial system as an expert
1617 witness on crash reconstruction, and he also worked as a crash
1718 school instructor and a field training officer; over the years, he
1819 was the recipient of numerous honors from the department, including
1920 a Texas Highway Patrol Division Chief award for his response to a
2021 life-threatening situation, and he was posthumously recognized by
2122 Governor Greg Abbott with a 2016 Star of Texas award; and
2223 WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee was a lifelong resident of Brownwood
2324 and a valued congregant of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ; a
2425 humble man admired for his wisdom and humor, he went out of his way
2526 to help those in need, and he touched the lives of many people
2627 through his work in law enforcement; in his leisure hours, he
2728 enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing things around the house, and
2829 spending time with his family, whom he cherished above all else; and
2930 WHEREAS, Karl Keesee lived an honorable life of service to
3031 his fellow Texans, and he will always be remembered with deep
3132 affection by those who held him close to their hearts; now,
3233 therefore, be it
3334 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
3435 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sergeant William
3536 Karl Keesee and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his
3637 passing; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3940 Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of Karl
4041 Keesee.
