| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Petronila Elementary School in Robstown has been |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |

| 10 | 11 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | disadvantaged students; Petronila Elementary was one of only 330 |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | public and private schools nationwide and 29 schools in Texas to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | have earned this impressive honor in 2016; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Under the skillful guidance of principal Richard |

| 17 | 18 | | Gutierrez, Petronila Elementary serves some 100 students in |

| 18 | 19 | | prekindergarten through fifth grade in the Bishop Consolidated |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Independent School District; in 2016, the school received |

| 20 | 21 | | distinctions from the Texas Education Agency in English language |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | arts and reading, mathematics, postsecondary readiness, student |

| 22 | 23 | | progress, and closing performance gaps; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, |

| 24 | 25 | | the teachers and students of Petronila Elementary have established |

| 25 | 26 | | a record of scholastic excellence, and their outstanding efforts |

| 26 | 27 | | have been duly recognized with the Blue Ribbon School award; now, |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
