| 8 | 8 | | East Texas Coalition Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Situated in the Piney Woods region of East Texas, |

| 10 | 10 | | Tyler, Kilgore, and Longview share the attributes of great natural |

| 11 | 11 | | beauty, abundant resources, and energetic and engaged citizens, all |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of which have played a vital role in the growth and prosperity of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | our state; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Tyler has a preeminent medical center, as well as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | multiple institutions of higher education, and it also is home to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the renowned Texas Rose Festival and the Municipal Rose Garden and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Museum; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Kilgore is an important center for the oil and high |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | technology industries, and Kilgore College offers such outstanding |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | cultural attractions as the Texas Shakespeare Festival and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | world-famous Rangerette drill team Showcase and Museum; and |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Longview is the largest city in Gregg County and is |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the location of LeTourneau University; it boasts the Longview |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Museum of Fine Arts, several other museums, and the Great Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Balloon Race; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The residents of these three notable cities may take |

| 27 | 27 | | great pride in their impressive achievements as they confidently |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | embrace the opportunities of the future, and this special day |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provides a fitting opportunity to honor them and their unique |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | region of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
