| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born to Eldred Ray and Mary Frances Hudson Bragg on |

| 9 | 10 | | December 20, 1944, in Kaufman, the former Kay Bragg grew up in |

| 10 | 11 | | Dallas and graduated from Bryan Adams High School; she went on to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Texas |

| 12 | 13 | | at Dallas and a master's degree in English literature from the |

| 13 | 14 | | University of Dallas; she enjoyed a successful career as a teacher |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and lecturer, instructing students in classic literature and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Christian iconography; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, On October 19, 1980, this esteemed Texan married |

| 17 | 18 | | Steven Sykes, with whom she shared a rewarding union that spanned 35 |

| 18 | 19 | | years; Mrs. Sykes was the devoted mother of four children, |

| 19 | 20 | | Christopher Jackson, Eric Sykes, Christopher Sykes, and Jennifer |

| 20 | 21 | | Griffin, and with the passing years, she had the pleasure of seeing |

| 21 | 22 | | her family grow to include four grandchildren, Alexandra, Jazz, |

| 22 | 23 | | Travis, and Madison; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Sustained by a deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Sykes |

| 24 | 25 | | was an active congregant at St. John's Church in Dallas and gave |

| 25 | 26 | | generously of her time to assist the church's vestry and altar |

| 26 | 27 | | guild; her life was further enriched by her passion for music and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | art, and she possessed a gracious hospitality that could transform |

| 28 | 29 | | any gathering into a special occasion; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Admired for her kindness, her strength of character, |

| 30 | 31 | | and her thoughtful intellect, Kay Sykes touched countless lives |

| 31 | 32 | | during her journey on this earth, and all those who were fortunate |
