| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, March 10, 2017, marks the 50th wedding anniversary |

| 6 | 7 | | of Alan and Kathleen Dale of Leander, and this joyous event provides |

| 7 | 8 | | a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey |

| 8 | 9 | | together as husband and wife; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Alan John Dale and the former Kathleen Margaret |

| 10 | 11 | | Hurley met in Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1965 at a Friendly's |

| 11 | 12 | | Ice Cream restaurant where he was a manager and she was a waitress; |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | he took her to a cowboy movie at the drive-in for their first date, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and although she was no fan of Westerns, their courtship blossomed, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | even as he enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | sea duty; while he served on the aircraft carrier USS John F. |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Kennedy, she worked in the treasurer's office of the University of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Massachusetts; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, On March 10, 1967, the couple married at St. Mary of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | the Assumption Catholic Church in Northampton; they became the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | proud parents of a daughter, Cheri, and a son, Tony; after attaining |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the rank of petty officer third class, Mr. Dale completed his |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | military service and embarked on a career in restaurant management |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | that would span three decades; Mrs. Dale was employed in |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | accounting, banking, and the newspaper business; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Their professions took the Dales to Michigan, Ohio, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | California, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Tennessee; |

| 27 | 28 | | eventually, they settled in Leander to be close to their |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | grandchildren, Aidan Davies and Maggie and Izzy Dale; their |

| 29 | 30 | | treasured family also includes a son-in-law, Christopher Davies, |

| 30 | 31 | | and daughter-in-law, Mary Lopez Dale; and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the Dales are |

| 32 | 33 | | active volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Austin; |

| 33 | 34 | | Mr. Dale is employed as a retail manager at CVS Pharmacy, while |

| 34 | 35 | | Mrs. Dale enjoys spending time with her grandson and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | granddaughters; and |

| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, The 50 years of marriage that this esteemed couple |

| 37 | 38 | | have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |
