5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Richards of Graham received a 4-H Gold Star |

6 | 7 | | Award on July 30, 2016, at the Young County 4-H Gold Star banquet; |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The highest county-level achievement award |

9 | 10 | | conferred by Texas 4-H, the Gold Star Award was first presented in |

10 | 11 | | 1933 to recognize the hard work of exemplary 4-H members; and |

11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, To qualify for the Gold Star Award, members must |
---|
12 | 13 | | distinguish themselves by demonstrating leadership ability and by |
---|
13 | 14 | | participating in one or more community service initiatives; in |
---|
14 | 15 | | addition, recipients are required to belong to 4-H for a minimum of |
---|
15 | 16 | | three years and to complete projects in three different areas of |
---|
16 | 17 | | emphasis; and |

17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Ricky and Christine Richards, Amanda |

18 | 19 | | Richards is president of the Lone Star 4-H Club, and she also serves |

19 | 20 | | as the Young County 4-H council secretary; she shows rabbits and |

20 | 21 | | goats and judges livestock, and she has participated in the Duds to |

21 | 22 | | Dazzle, Food Challenge, and Nutrition Quiz Bowl programs; and |

22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Through her hard work and commitment to excellence, |

23 | 24 | | Amanda Richards has brought great pride to her 4-H club, and she may |

24 | 25 | | indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now, |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
