No. 775 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family, friends, and colleagues in the Iraan community suffered an immeasurable loss with the tragic death of Elizabeth Castaneda Pope on December 3, 2016, at the age of 52; and WHEREAS, Born in Midland to Alejandro and Maria Antonia Castaneda, the former Liz Castaneda attended school in the Iraan-Sheffield Independent School District; she went on to share a loving relationship with her husband, Victor Pope, and was deeply devoted to her two children, Quincy and Victoria, and three grandchildren, Avey, Amya, and Xander; and WHEREAS, Vivacious and full of energy, Ms. Pope remained a loyal and active supporter of her alma mater; in addition to serving as an educator, she found great joy and fulfillment in her work as booster club president and as a sponsor of the Iraan Bravettes cheerleading team, and her passion for volunteering also led her to become a development teacher for community youth; she was steadfast in her faith and an active member of her church; and WHEREAS, A woman whose smile and laughter brightened the days of all those around her, Liz Pope radiated love and kindness, and she will forever be a source of inspiration to the many people who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Elizabeth Castaneda Pope and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, Victor Pope; to her children, Quincy Pope and Victoria Elyse Pope; to her grandchildren, Avey, Amya, and Xander Pope; to her mother, Maria Antonia Castaneda; to her siblings, Alejandro Castaneda Jr. and his wife, Letti, Sylvia Baldwin and her husband, David, Sammy Castaneda and his wife, Elida, Betty Gonzales and her husband, Freddie, Mary Coffelt and her husband, Mike, Christina Garlock and her husband, Steve, Cathy Green and her husband, Scott, Elvera Carter and her husband, Jerry, and Scott Castaneda; and to her other relatives and numerous friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Liz Pope.
