H.R. No. 785
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The board of trustees of the Robstown Independent
School District has been named a 2016 Regional School Board of the
Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is part of the TASA School
Board Awards Program, which honors boards that have demonstrated a
commitment to educational improvement projects and school
transformation initiatives, while firmly adhering to a code of
ethics; in addition to its selection as the Region 2 winner, the
Robstown board was recognized as one of five Texas Honor Boards and
was a finalist for the 2016 Outstanding School Board award; and
WHEREAS, Working closely with parents, teachers, and other
members of the community, the Robstown ISD school board serves more
than 2,800 young Texans across seven campuses; members include
president Oscar Lopez, Lori Ann Flores-Garza, Ernest Gallegos,
Ismael Gonzalez, Richard Gonzalez, Eva Orona, and Bertha Roldan,
who coordinate with superintendent Maria Vidaurri to create an
effective and innovative administration; and
WHEREAS, Through their dedication to pursuing new avenues of
learning, the Robstown ISD trustees are providing students with a
rich educational experience that will serve them well in the years
ahead, and these exemplary leaders are truly deserving of
commendation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the trustees of the Robstown
Independent School District on their selection as a Regional School
Board of the Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators
and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success with
their important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the board as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
