| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The City of Garland celebrated the opening of its |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Named in honor of former city manager William E. |

| 9 | 10 | | Dollar, who retired in 2015 after more than four decades of service |

| 10 | 11 | | to the community, the facility features a modern exterior and new |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | restrooms and elevators and is equipped with an expanded government |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | access television studio and state-of-the-art technology upgrades |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | for the city council's official chamber and work session room; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Renovation of the city hall building is part of a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | major downtown revitalization effort that has also added new |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | parking structures, apartments, offices, and retail space to the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | city's center; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The William E. Dollar Municipal Building |

| 19 | 20 | | constitutes a significant resource for the citizens of Garland, and |

| 20 | 21 | | it is a pleasure to join in recognizing the vision, leadership, and |

| 21 | 22 | | hard work that have helped bring this project to fruition; now, |

| 23 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 24 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of the William E. Dollar |
