| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The creation of Christus Good Shepherd Health System |

| 6 | 7 | | in February 2017 has opened new horizons for the provision of health |

| 7 | 8 | | care services in East Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This new nonprofit organization is the result of a |

| 9 | 10 | | merger between Christus Health and the Gregg County-based Good |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Shepherd Health System; one of three Christus health systems in the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | region, Christus Good Shepherd encompasses a major medical center |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | in Longview that is the largest employer in the city and a sister |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | hospital in Marshall, as well as more than 30 clinics and other |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | satellite facilities; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Health care is essential to the well-being of every |

| 16 | 17 | | man, woman, and child in the Lone Star State, and Christus Good |

| 17 | 18 | | Shepherd Health System promises to be an invaluable asset to the |

| 18 | 19 | | East Texas community; now, therefore, be it |

| 19 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the establishment of the Christus |

| 21 | 22 | | Good Shepherd Health System and extend to all those associated with |

| 22 | 23 | | the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
