H.R. No. 800
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of First Presbyterian Church in Lott are
celebrating the 125th anniversary of their church's founding on
March 27, 2017; and
WHEREAS, First Presbyterian Church in Lott was established in
1892, and it has since played a vital role in the community,
providing its members with myriad opportunities for spiritual
growth, fellowship, and outreach; the church's current sanctuary
was constructed in 1942, and the outside bell was a feature of the
original 1892 building, which occupied the same site; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, the congregation has benefited from
the able leadership of a number of dedicated clergymen, including
its founding pastors, the Reverends C. W. Payton, J. W. Siler, and
J. T. Thompson; today that tradition of service is continued by the
Reverend William Benner; and
WHEREAS, First Presbyterian Church has long served as a
source of inspiration and guidance to those who worship there, and
its continued existence is a testament to the unwavering commitment
of its members and clergy, both past and present; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 125th anniversary of First
Presbyterian Church in Lott and extend to its members sincere best
wishes for many more years of shared prayer and fellowship; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
