| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For 120 years, residents of Angleton have come |

| 6 | 7 | | together to celebrate their faith at First Baptist Church of |

| 7 | 8 | | Angleton; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established on October 20, 1896, First Baptist held |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | its first services at a nearby Presbyterian church before moving |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | into its own facility 15 years later; the church has since grown to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | include Angleton Christian School, which was built in 2005, and it |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | has also helped start two additional houses of worship, Second |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Baptist Church and Primera Iglesia Bautista; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the congregation has benefited |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | from the able leadership of a number of dedicated pastors, and today |

| 16 | 17 | | that tradition of service is continued by Dr. Rodney Bowman; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, First Baptist Church of Angleton has long served as |

| 18 | 19 | | a source of inspiration and guidance to area residents, and its |

| 19 | 20 | | continued existence is a testament to the unwavering commitment of |

| 20 | 21 | | its members and clergy, both past and present; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 120th anniversary of the |

| 23 | 24 | | founding of First Baptist Church of Angleton and extend to the |

| 24 | 25 | | congregation sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
