| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Wheaton, Missouri, Maxine Flournoy |

| 10 | 11 | | received her pilot's license in 1939, and at age 21, she joined the |

| 11 | 12 | | Women's Air Force Service Pilots; after graduating from training in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | 1943, she was assigned to Sweetwater and later stationed at the |

| 13 | 14 | | Hondo Army Airfield, where she flew planes in from factories and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | helped train navigators; in 2010, she was awarded the Congressional |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Gold Medal for her distinguished service; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mrs. Flournoy has further benefited |

| 17 | 18 | | her fellow citizens as a board member for the United Service |

| 18 | 19 | | Organizations and as a Texas Historical Commissioner; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Americans owe a debt of gratitude to those men and |
