| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated to promoting the arts and education, the |

| 9 | 10 | | Oak Cliff Coalition for the Arts sponsors cultural events and funds |

| 10 | 11 | | scholarships in the community; and |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Commemorating the victory of Mexican troops led by |

| 12 | 13 | | Texas-born general Ignacio Zaragoza over the French at the Battle |

| 13 | 14 | | of Puebla on May 5, 1862, the annual Oak Cliff Cinco de Mayo parade |

| 14 | 15 | | includes floats, marching bands, school groups, and other community |

| 15 | 16 | | participants; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The celebration's street festival will feature |

| 17 | 18 | | performances by local musicians and dancers, as well as booths |

| 18 | 19 | | offering food and local merchandise and a Community Pavilion; |

| 19 | 20 | | proceeds from the festival will help support the coalition's |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Drawing as many as 20,000 people every year, the Oak |

| 24 | 25 | | commemorate a vital moment in history and to share in the traditions |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | organizers, participants, and visitors best wishes for a memorable |
