| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Sheppard has been named the 2017 Firefighter |

| 6 | 7 | | of the Year by the Corpus Christi Fire Department; and |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, For more than 32 years, Daniel Sheppard has worked |

| 8 | 9 | | as a firefighter and paramedic for the Corpus Christi Fire |

| 9 | 10 | | Department, which serves a 170-square-mile community that is home |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | to more than 300,000 residents; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Sheppard is currently assigned to CCFD's Fire |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Station No. 2, and he is the commander of the department's pipes and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | drums corps; in his role as Firefighter of the Year, Mr. Sheppard |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | will represent the department at city functions throughout 2017; |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Through his selfless dedication to the safety and |

| 17 | 18 | | well-being of his fellow citizens, Daniel Sheppard exemplifies the |

| 18 | 19 | | highest ideals of his profession, and he has earned the lasting |

| 19 | 20 | | respect and admiration of his peers, colleagues, and the community |

| 21 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
