45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Both Matt DeYoung and Todd Sutherland of East
67 Chambers High School in Winnie earned coach of the year honors for
78 the 2015-2016 school year; and
89 WHEREAS, Selected as the 2016 Boys' Powerlifting Coach of the
910 Year by the Southeast Texas Coaches Association, Mr. DeYoung helped
1011 guide a number of student-athletes to the Texas High School
1112 Powerlifting Association regional meet; one of his lifters, Juan
1213 Lopez, went on to capture the state championship title,
1314 establishing several new state records along the way; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mr. Sutherland was named the 2016 Super Gold Boys'
1516 Basketball Coach of the Year by the Beaumont Enterprise; during the
1617 season, he piloted the Runnin' Bucs to 34 victories, the most in
1718 school history, and surpassed a career total of 700 wins; moreover,
1819 his team advanced all the way to the University Interscholastic
1920 League 3A state finals; and
2021 WHEREAS, Through their dedication and leadership, these
2122 coaches have furthered the proud tradition of athletic excellence
2223 at East Chambers High School, and it is truly a pleasure to join in
2324 recognizing them for their outstanding accomplishments; now,
2425 therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Matt DeYoung and Todd Sutherland on
2728 receiving coach of the year honors and extend to them sincere best
2829 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
3031 for Mr. DeYoung and Mr. Sutherland as an expression of high regard
3132 by the Texas House of Representatives.
