| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This special-purpose Texas A&M campus features a |

| 10 | 11 | | the past 16 years, its enrollment has grown more than tenfold, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the school's new academic complex will position the campus for |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | continued growth; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The fourth major building to be started on the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | grounds in three years, this 38,000-square-foot facility features |

| 15 | 16 | | colors, materials, and design details that will enhance the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | university's "front door" and make a dramatic first impression on |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | visitors; a pedestrian mall between this new building and one |

| 18 | 19 | | erected during the first phase of construction will draw the eye to |

| 19 | 20 | | Bracewell Clock Tower while serving as a passage between the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | entrance to campus and the quadrangle at its heart; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Once completed, the state-of-the-art building will |

| 22 | 23 | | include a large lecture hall that can be subdivided into smaller |

| 23 | 24 | | lecture spaces, along with seminar rooms, mail and copy services, |

| 24 | 25 | | the campus bookstore, and the offices of the school's |

| 25 | 26 | | administration and auxiliary services; the copious use of glass in |

| 26 | 27 | | the design will provide ample natural light to the interior while |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, With its specialized educational program and |

| 29 | 30 | | growing student body, Texas A&M University at Galveston is a campus |

| 30 | 31 | | on the move, and this striking new facility will contribute greatly |

| 31 | 32 | | to the future success of the university; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the groundbreaking of the second |
