R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Cilla Faye Bruun of Texas A&M
University--Corpus Christi has received a well-deserved honor with
her selection as a 2016-2017 inductee of the Texas A&M Chancellor's
Academy of Teacher Educators; and
WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Academy recognizes members of the
university system who have made significant contributions to the
field of teacher education in the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Bruun is an associate professor in the
Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction
whose scholarship focuses on the use of literature and
manipulatives to teach mathematics; she has also worked as a
liaison with the Mathematics Department faculty, and she has been
involved in the annual ME by the SEa mathematics and science
conference since its inception 12 years ago; and
WHEREAS, A 1974 graduate of The University of Texas at
Austin, Dr. Bruun holds master's and doctoral degrees from Texas
A&M University--Corpus Christi; before joining the faculty of
TAMU--CC in 2005, she taught at St. James Episcopal School for 10
years and was featured in the 2002 edition of Who's Who Among
America's Teachers; moreover, she served on the Governor's Advisory
Council for Mathematics as part of the Governor's Math Initiative
in 2001, as well as on the Texas Education Agency's State Review
Panel of Mathematics in 2007; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Bruun has distinguished herself as a leader
and innovator in the area of mathematics instruction, and she may
take justifiable pride in earning this prestigious recognition;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Cilla Faye Bruun on her
induction into the Texas A&M Chancellor's Academy of Teacher
Educators and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Bruun as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
