| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Cilla Faye Bruun of Texas A&M |

| 6 | 7 | | University--Corpus Christi has received a well-deserved honor with |

| 7 | 8 | | her selection as a 2016-2017 inductee of the Texas A&M Chancellor's |

| 8 | 9 | | Academy of Teacher Educators; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Academy recognizes members of the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | university system who have made significant contributions to the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | field of teacher education in the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Bruun is an associate professor in the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | whose scholarship focuses on the use of literature and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | manipulatives to teach mathematics; she has also worked as a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | liaison with the Mathematics Department faculty, and she has been |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | involved in the annual ME by the SEa mathematics and science |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | conference since its inception 12 years ago; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A 1974 graduate of The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Austin, Dr. Bruun holds master's and doctoral degrees from Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | A&M University--Corpus Christi; before joining the faculty of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | TAMU--CC in 2005, she taught at St. James Episcopal School for 10 |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | years and was featured in the 2002 edition of Who's Who Among |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | America's Teachers; moreover, she served on the Governor's Advisory |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Council for Mathematics as part of the Governor's Math Initiative |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | in 2001, as well as on the Texas Education Agency's State Review |

| 27 | 28 | | Panel of Mathematics in 2007; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Faye Bruun has distinguished herself as a leader |

| 29 | 30 | | and innovator in the area of mathematics instruction, and she may |

| 30 | 31 | | take justifiable pride in earning this prestigious recognition; |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
