| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Criselda I. Castillo was one of five Texas A&M |

| 6 | 7 | | University--Corpus Christi employees who were named 2016 40 Under |

| 7 | 8 | | 40 honorees by Corpus Christi Under 40; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, CCU40 recognizes 40 men and women under |

| 9 | 10 | | the age of 40 who have worked to make a positive difference in the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Corpus Christi area through both their professional and community |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | endeavors; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Castillo currently serves as principal of the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Early Childhood Development Center, a joint venture between the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Corpus Christi Independent School District and TAMU--CC; during her |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | 15 years as an educator, she has worked as a high school teacher and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | served as an assistant principal at Baker Middle School; she has |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | also been responsible for implementing a number of different |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | programs, including Advancement Via Individual Determination, the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | International Baccalaureate framework, the Positive Behavior |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Improvement System, and the Gomez and Gomez Dual Language |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Enrichment Model, and she was part of the Texas Schools to Watch |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | campus visitation team; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Active in myriad professional organizations, |

| 24 | 25 | | Dr. Castillo is a member of the National Association for Bilingual |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Education, the Association of Texas Professional Educators, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Corpus Christi Principals and Supervisors Association; she holds a |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | bachelor's degree from the University of the Incarnate Word and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | master's and doctoral degrees in education from TAMU--CC; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Criselda Castillo has set an outstanding example |

| 30 | 31 | | of professional achievement and civic engagement, and she may take |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | justifiable pride in her contributions to the Coastal Bend |

| 32 | 33 | | community; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Criselda I. Castillo on her |
