| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, George Kent was honored for his 29 years of service |

| 6 | 7 | | to the board of the Mid-Way Regional Airport with an Appreciation |

| 7 | 8 | | Award at a ceremony held on February 9, 2017; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mid-Way Regional Airport, which is owned by the |

| 9 | 10 | | cities of Midlothian and Waxahachie, opened in October 1992 to meet |

| 10 | 11 | | the transportation needs of the area's rapidly growing population; |

| 11 | 12 | | as mayor of Midlothian from 1979 to 1987, George Kent helped lay the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | groundwork for the facility, and after his retirement from the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | mayor's office, he became a member of the airport's board and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | continued to serve on that body with distinction through 2016; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Mr. Kent and the board's |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | other members, Mid-Way Regional Airport has expanded to include an |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 8,000-square-foot terminal, a 6,500-foot-long runway, and more |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | than 60 aircraft rental hangars, along with a pilot's lounge and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | space to host meetings and other events; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, George Kent played an |

| 21 | 22 | | instrumental role in guiding the development of the Mid-Way |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Regional Airport, and in doing so, he greatly benefited his fellow |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | citizens and earned for himself the respect and admiration of the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | community at large; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend George Kent on his 29 years of service to |

| 27 | 28 | | the Mid-Way Regional Airport board and extend to him best wishes for |
