45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Colonel Bradley T. Clair is completing his tenure as
67 commander of the 4th Brigade Health Services, 100th Training
78 Division, 80th Training Command, on June 11, 2017, and this
89 occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize his
910 distinguished service to his nation; and
1011 WHEREAS, A native of Los Angeles, Bradley Clair joined the
1112 United States Army after graduating from high school, in 1975;
1213 following assignments at bases in Washington state, Korea, and
1314 Georgia, he was honorably discharged from active duty in 1978 and
1415 went on to pursue a career in medicine; and
1516 WHEREAS, Colonel Clair answered his country's call to duty
1617 again in 2001; he joined the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps and was
1718 assigned to the 1984th U.S. Army Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska,
1819 before being deployed in 2004 and 2005 to Germany, where he worked
1920 as an internist and as a cardiologist; and
2021 WHEREAS, Operation Iraqi Freedom occasioned another
2122 deployment in 2007, during which time Colonel Clair was posted to
2223 the 399th Combat Support Hospital in Anbar Province; there, he
2324 helped run the ICU and a medical-surgical unit, worked in the
2425 emergency room, and assessed the blood program; after completing
2526 that mission, he was selected in 2008 to command the 4225th U.S.
2627 Army Hospital in Helena, Montana; that assignment was followed by
2728 command positions with the 6253rd U.S. Army Hospital in Mesa,
2829 Arizona, the Western Medical Area Readiness Support Group, the U.S.
2930 Army Reserve Medical Command, and, most recently, the 4th Brigade,
3031 headquartered at Fort Sam Houston; and
3132 WHEREAS, This esteemed officer holds a master's degree in
3233 strategic studies from the Army War College; among the many
3334 decorations and awards he has received have been the Meritorious
3435 Service Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, the Army Commendation
3536 Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service
3637 Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service
3738 Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service
3839 Ribbon; and
3940 WHEREAS, In civilian life, Colonel Clair spent 23 years as a
4041 partner with Northern California Medical Associates, and he
4142 currently serves as a staff cardiologist with Sutter Health in
4243 Lakeport, California; he is an alumnus of California State
4344 University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology, and the
4445 University of Guadalajara, where he completed his M.D.; and
4546 WHEREAS, Colonel Clair has set an inspiring example for
4647 others through his selfless devotion to his country and his
4748 commitment to the highest ideals of the medical profession, and it
4849 is indeed fitting that he be recognized at this time; now,
4950 therefore, be it
5051 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
5152 Legislature hereby honor Colonel Bradley T. Clair for his service
5253 to the United States Army and Army Reserve and extend to him sincere
5354 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
5455 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5556 prepared for Colonel Clair as an expression of high regard by the
5657 Texas House of Representatives.
