8 | 6 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

9 | 7 | | SECTION 1. Section 621.101, Transportation Code, is amended |
---|
10 | 8 | | by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |

11 | 9 | | (b-1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, |
---|
12 | 10 | | a vehicle or combination of vehicles that is powered by an engine |
---|
13 | 11 | | fueled primarily by natural gas may exceed any weight limitation |
---|
14 | 12 | | under this section by an amount that is equal to the difference |
---|
15 | 13 | | between the weight of the vehicle attributable to the natural gas |
---|
16 | 14 | | tank and fueling system carried by that vehicle and the weight of a |
---|
17 | 15 | | comparable diesel tank and fueling system, provided that the |
---|
18 | 16 | | maximum gross weight of the vehicle or combination of vehicles may |
---|
19 | 17 | | not exceed 82,000 pounds. |
---|
20 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
21 | 19 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
22 | 20 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
23 | 21 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
24 | 22 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
