64 AN ACT
75 relating to weight limitations for natural gas motor vehicles.
86 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
97 SECTION 1. Section 621.101, Transportation Code, is amended
108 by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
119 (b-1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section,
1210 a vehicle or combination of vehicles that is powered by an engine
1311 fueled primarily by natural gas may exceed any weight limitation
1412 under this section by an amount that is equal to the difference
1513 between the weight of the vehicle attributable to the natural gas
1614 tank and fueling system carried by that vehicle and the weight of a
1715 comparable diesel tank and fueling system, provided that the
1816 maximum gross weight of the vehicle or combination of vehicles may
1917 not exceed 82,000 pounds.
2018 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2119 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2220 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2321 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2422 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
