| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 52.095, Election Code, is amended to | |
| 11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 52.095. PROPOSITIONS. (a) Except as otherwise | |
| 13 | 13 | provided by law, the authority ordering an election in which more | |
| 14 | 14 | than one measure is to be voted on shall determine the order in | |
| 15 | 15 | which the propositions are to appear on the ballot. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) Each proposition on the ballot must identify the name of | |
| 17 | 17 | the authority ordering the election on the measure and assign a | |
| 18 | 18 | number to the measure that corresponds to the order in which it is | |
| 19 | 19 | placed on the ballot. | |
| 20 | 20 | (c) The secretary of state shall prescribe procedures | |
| 21 | 21 | necessary to implement this section. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
