66 AN ACT
77 relating to the creation of an additional judicial district in
88 Denton County and the jurisdiction of certain county criminal
99 courts in Denton.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 24.6006 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 24.6006. 462ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT (DENTON COUNTY). The
1414 462nd Judicial District is composed of Denton County.
1515 SECTION 2. Section 25.0634, Government Code, is amended by
1616 amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to read as
1717 follows:
1818 (b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a [A] county
1919 criminal court has no jurisdiction over civil, civil appellate,
2020 probate, or mental health matters.
2121 (c) The County Criminal Court No. 4 of Denton County has
2222 jurisdiction over mental health matters.
2323 SECTION 3. The 462nd Judicial District is created on
2424 January 1, 2019.
2525 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
