A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to guidelines for the proper care and display of the United
States and Texas flags by public schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 7, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 7.045 to read as follows:
Sec. 7.045. PROPER CARE AND DISPLAY OF UNITED STATES AND
TEXAS FLAGS. The agency shall:
(1) by rule develop and adopt guidelines for the
proper care and display of the United States and Texas flags with
respect to the duty under Section 1.003 to fly the flags; and
(2) publish the guidelines on the agency's Internet
website.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
