9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 418, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 418.127 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 418.127. HURRICANE MITIGATION. The governor shall | |
13 | 13 | issue a proclamation each year before hurricane season instructing: | |
14 | 14 | (1) individuals, including residential and commercial | |
15 | 15 | property owners, to prepare their property and communities for the | |
16 | 16 | upcoming hurricane season; | |
17 | 17 | (2) state agencies to review and update their | |
18 | 18 | hurricane preparedness plans; and | |
19 | 19 | (3) the following entities, to the extent practicable, | |
20 | 20 | to conduct community outreach and education activities on hurricane | |
21 | 21 | preparedness between May 25 and May 31 of each year: | |
22 | 22 | (A) municipalities and counties; | |
23 | 23 | (B) the division; | |
24 | 24 | (C) the Texas Education Agency; | |
25 | 25 | (D) the office of the comptroller; and | |
26 | 26 | (E) the Texas Department of Insurance. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
