55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to compliance with prohibitions regarding the use of
88 common core state standards in public schools.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 28.002(b-3), Education Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (b-3) A school district may not use common core state
1313 standards to comply with the requirement to provide instruction in
1414 the essential knowledge and skills at appropriate grade levels
1515 under Subsection (c). The State Board of Education shall adopt
1616 rules necessary to implement this subsection.
1717 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1818 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1919 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2020 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2121 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
