| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 437, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | amending Section 437.118 and adding Section 437.119 to read as | |
| 12 | 12 | follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 437.118. MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION [USE] OF [FUNDS TO | |
| 14 | 14 | SUPPORT] MILITARY HOUSING [AND TRAINING]. [(a) The department may | |
| 15 | 15 | use appropriated money to purchase food and beverages for charged | |
| 16 | 16 | military housing and training functions required of the Texas | |
| 17 | 17 | military forces. | |
| 18 | 18 | [(b)] The department shall maintain and operate charged | |
| 19 | 19 | military housing in accordance with policies and regulations | |
| 20 | 20 | adopted by the adjutant general and published on the department's | |
| 21 | 21 | Internet website. The department shall deposit room fees in a | |
| 22 | 22 | billeting account. | |
| 23 | 23 | Sec. 437.119. USE OF FUNDS TO PURCHASE FOOD AND BEVERAGES. | |
| 24 | 24 | The department may use appropriated money to purchase food and | |
| 25 | 25 | beverages for: | |
| 26 | 26 | (1) charged military housing; | |
| 27 | 27 | (2) service members of the Texas military forces on | |
| 28 | 28 | military duty, including required training functions; and | |
| 29 | 29 | (3) students participating in the Texas ChalleNGe | |
| 30 | 30 | Academy. | |
| 31 | 31 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
