8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Article 63.0041, Code of Criminal Procedure, is | |
10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Art. 63.0041. REPORTING OF ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION. (a) | |
12 | 12 | A local law enforcement agency, on receiving a report of an | |
13 | 13 | attempted child abduction, shall as soon as practicable, but not | |
14 | 14 | later than eight hours after receiving the report, provide any | |
15 | 15 | relevant information regarding the attempted child abduction to the | |
16 | 16 | clearinghouse. Information not immediately available shall be | |
17 | 17 | obtained by the agency and entered into the clearinghouse as a | |
18 | 18 | supplement to the original entry as soon as possible. | |
19 | 19 | (b) A law enforcement officer or local law enforcement | |
20 | 20 | agency reporting an attempted child abduction to the clearinghouse | |
21 | 21 | shall make the report by use of the Texas Law Enforcement | |
22 | 22 | Telecommunications System or a successor system of | |
23 | 23 | telecommunication used by law enforcement agencies and operated by | |
24 | 24 | the Department of Public Safety. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. Article 63.009(a-3), Code of Criminal Procedure, | |
26 | 26 | is repealed. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
