77 relating to the reporting of attempted child abductions.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Article 63.0041, Code of Criminal Procedure, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 Art. 63.0041. REPORTING OF ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION. (a)
1212 A local law enforcement agency, on receiving a report of an
1313 attempted child abduction, shall as soon as practicable, but not
1414 later than eight hours after receiving the report, provide any
1515 relevant information regarding the attempted child abduction to the
1616 clearinghouse. Information not immediately available shall be
1717 obtained by the agency and entered into the clearinghouse as a
1818 supplement to the original entry as soon as possible.
1919 (b) A law enforcement officer or local law enforcement
2020 agency reporting an attempted child abduction to the clearinghouse
2121 shall make the report by use of the Texas Law Enforcement
2222 Telecommunications System or a successor system of
2323 telecommunication used by law enforcement agencies and operated by
2424 the Department of Public Safety.
2525 SECTION 2. Article 63.009(a-3), Code of Criminal Procedure,
2626 is repealed.
2727 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
