44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the calculation of longevity pay for state judges and
77 justices.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 659.0445(b), Government Code, is amended
1010 to read as follows:
1111 (b) The monthly amount of longevity pay under this section to
1212 which a judge or justice described by Subsection (a) is entitled:
1313 (1) Is equal to the product of .2 percent [.031
1414 multiplied by the amount] of the judge's or justice's current
1515 monthly state salary multiplied by the number of years of service
1616 credited to the judge or justice in the applicable retirement
1717 system; and
1818 (2) becomes payable beginning with the month following
1919 the month in which the judge or justice completes two [16] years of
2020 service for which credit is established in the applicable
2121 retirement system.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
